How Accidental Therapy came to be

About me

Hi there! My name is Jennifer and, in truth, I'm a pretty boring middle-aged woman. I used to be a lawyer but gave that up several years ago to become a freelance writer, a ghostwriter, and a book-writing coach. In 2019, I had a life-changing experience with psilocybin-containing mushrooms (as of the inception of this website, it remains my one and only experience with psychedelics). I'll let you read my book and blog for the full details, but suffice it to say that that one experience ended up being better for my damaged soul than 30 years of talk therapy. Lately, my depression has started creeping (or bulldozing) its way back into my life. That has me on a quest for more mushroom experiences -- this time intentional, this time guided, and hopefully, again, life-changing. I hope you'll join me as we figure it all out.

Our Community

Eventually, "Accidental Therapy" will be a book full of my and others' stories about how the use of psilocybin improved our mental health. As more and more states consider decriminalizing the therapeutic use of mushrooms, I want our stories to inspire others to experience the profound impacts of this amazing medicine. I want to hear from all of you: grandmas, grandpas, moms, dads, hippies, stockbrokers, artists -- basically any adult who has used psychoactive mushrooms with a positive mental health outcome. Eventually, I hope to form an online community where we can safely chat about our experiences and learn from one another's insights. For now, however, I'm just a gal with a website, a blog, and a dream of trying to make the world more beautiful for anyone who suffers from depression.

Join Our Journey

Do you want to become part of our psilocybin mental health revolution? Feel free to write out an email on our "Contact Us" website (or email me directly at jen@AccidentalTherapy.com). If you don't want to write, let me know how and when I can get ahold of you and we'll do a good, old-fashioned telephone interview so your story can be included in the book. Don't be shy. We've got hearts, minds, and souls to save.

IMPORTANT DISCLAIMERS

First of all, let me just say that I have a zero-tolerance policy toward haters. Folks who are negative, belligerent, know-it-alls will be promptly removed.

Along those lines, let me say that NOT ALL MUSHROOMS PICTURED ON THIS SITE ARE PSYCHOACTIVE OR EDIBLE.  I just like taking pictures of mushrooms. ANYONE CONSIDERING USING MUSHROOMS SHOULD EXERCISE EXTREME CAUTION BEFORE INGESTING ANY SUBSTANCE BELIEVED TO BE PSYCHOACTIVE.

Additionally, I AM NOT A DOCTOR OR THERAPIST and I AM NOT DISPENSING MEDICAL ADVICE. I am simply recounting experiences that individuals (including myself) have had with psilocybin-containing mushrooms. I am not promising any particular result and I strongly suggest that all readers find a qualified therapist or other guide to facilitate any psilocybin journey.

Finally, in creating this website, I AM NOT ACTING AS A LAWYER NOR AM I OFFERING ADVICE ON THE LEGALITY OF PSILOCYBIN ANYWHERE.
